GeekE Media's mission is to use creative storytelling to empower small business owners, amplify marginalized voices, and help make the world a more compassionate and inclusive place for all.
How It Began
I started writing stories at 5 years old, inspired by my older sister and the stories we weaved together. When I got my hands on a half-way decent computer, I discovered Windows Movie Maker and made fan music videos, bringing together my favorite songs and movies. I spent much of my childhood reading, writing, singing, trying out piano, drawing, painting, dancing - getting myself into as many creative outlets as possible. My video editing journey, though technically started as a teen, stalled until the COVID pandemic, when my sister and I decided to take our creative writing lessons online, and I dived headfirst into Davinci Resolve.
When I graduated college in 2013, I was solely focused on getting my own place and starting a full time job. So I jumped right into office work, and I stayed in that environment for about 11 years. I often daydreamed about what it would be like to open my own business - to pursue a career in something that spoke to me personally, something that utilized my creativity. It wasn’t until my lay-off at the end of 2023 that I began to think that my dream might be possible.
Prior to opening my business in mid-2024, I was dabbling in freelance work while looking for a new position. I found some content creators that needed video editing assistance, and some small business owners that needed copywriting services. It helped me stay busy and keep the encroaching depression of unemployment at bay. But by March, it became clear that I had been presented with an opportunity to pursue my dream - one that might not come again if I dived back into the grind of traditional 9-5 work. With renewed passion, a sprinkle of hope, and a heaping dose of anxiety, GeekE Media LLC was formed.
